Welcome to AgriConnect Hub. These combined Privacy Policy and Terms of Service explain how we handle information about people who use the platform and the rules for using it. By registering, browsing, posting, or otherwise using AgriConnect Hub, you agree to both sets of terms below.
Part A — Privacy Policy
1. Information we collect
- Account information — name, email, phone number, organisation, role (farmer, investor, trader, buyer, professional, researcher, NGO, government), district and country.
- Content you post — projects, marketplace listings, comments, messages, media uploads.
- Technical data — IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, referring URL, timestamps.
- Cookies — session cookies for login, preference cookies for language/theme, and (only if you consent) analytics cookies.
2. How we use your information
- Provide the platform: authentication, dashboards, messaging, notifications.
- Match you with relevant projects, buyers, sellers, opportunities, or resources.
- Send transactional email (registration, password reset, message alerts) and — only if you opt in — a monthly digest.
- Protect the platform: fraud prevention, abuse detection, security auditing.
- Comply with legal obligations under Malawian law.
3. Sharing
We do not sell personal data. We share it only with:
- Other members you explicitly interact with (e.g., a buyer you message).
- Service providers strictly acting on our instructions (hosting, email delivery, SMS gateways) under written data-processing agreements.
- Authorities where compelled by valid legal process.
4. Your rights
You may access, correct, export, or delete your personal data at any time from Dashboard → Profile → Settings or by emailing privacy@agriconnect.example. You may also withdraw consent, close your account, or lodge a complaint with the relevant supervisory authority.
5. Data retention
Account data is retained for as long as your account is active plus 24 months after closure (for financial-record and dispute-resolution purposes), after which it is anonymised or deleted. Content you publish (projects, listings, comments) remains visible even after account closure unless you remove it first, in accordance with community continuity.
6. Security
We use industry-standard controls: HTTPS everywhere, bcrypt password hashing, role-based access control, encrypted database backups, and 2FA available for all accounts. No system is perfectly secure — please choose a strong password and enable 2FA for administrator accounts.
7. Children
AgriConnect Hub is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Part B — Terms of Service
8. Who can use AgriConnect Hub
You must be at least 18 years old (or the legal age of majority in your jurisdiction) and legally capable of entering into a binding agreement. Organisations must have authority to bind the entity they represent.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Post false, misleading, or fraudulent listings, projects, or opportunities.
- Impersonate any person or organisation.
- Post content that is unlawful, defamatory, discriminatory, sexually explicit, or infringes intellectual property.
- Scrape, mirror, or bulk-download the platform without written permission.
- Circumvent security controls, moderation, or paywalls.
- Distribute malware or attempt to disrupt service.
10. Your content
You retain ownership of the content you post. By posting, you grant AgriConnect Hub a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, distribute, and adapt that content for the operation of the platform. You confirm you have the right to grant this licence.
11. Marketplace & investment listings
AgriConnect Hub is a listing and matchmaking platform. We do not act as an escrow, broker, financial adviser, or guarantor. Any contract, sale, purchase, or investment agreed between members is between those members. Do your own due diligence, verify credentials, and use written contracts.
12. Fees
Core browsing, registration, and messaging are free. Optional paid features (promoted listings, verified badge, extended analytics) will be clearly labelled with pricing at the point of purchase. Refunds follow the policy shown at checkout.
13. Suspension & termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms, with notice where reasonable. You may close your account at any time from Dashboard → Profile → Settings. Sections concerning ownership, liability, and dispute resolution survive termination.
14. Disclaimers
The platform is provided “as is”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, AgriConnect Hub disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. AgriConnect Hub does not warrant that yields, prices, market outcomes, or partner conduct will match forecasts or listings.
15. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, AgriConnect Hub’s aggregate liability for any claim arising from your use of the platform is limited to the greater of (a) the fees you paid to AgriConnect Hub in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) USD 100. AgriConnect Hub is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.
16. Governing law & dispute resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Malawi. Disputes will be resolved first by good-faith negotiation, then by mediation in Lilongwe, and finally by the courts of Malawi.
17. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy and Terms of Service from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email or an in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
